Relax on the Poole!

A wonderful environment in which to dine, relax and enjoy with exquisite food and wine, refined comfort and impeccable service, Les Bouviers restaurant, has the beautiful Dorset coastline with Poole and Bournemouth virtually on its doorstep.

Les Bouviers is a new creation, combining hotel and restaurant set in 5 ½ acres of beautiful open countryside. The six individually designed bedrooms look out over this tranquil setting, each with unique character, sumptuous furnishings and indulgent bathrooms. The restaurant, with a relaxed yet intimate flavour offers a good variety of menus from their award winning chef, accompanied by a fine selection of aperitifs and wines.

Due to the setting and quality of the venue Les Bouviers is popular with potential brides and grooms. The site can now offer more to wedding parties with a function room in the swimming pool! Guests do not need to bring along their swimming costumes or an extra set of clothes, reassuringly the function room is completely dry, but the space has been ultimately utilised.

Imagine the surface space of a swimming pool. Now imagine how many tables, chairs and people could stand in that space. Simply make them all able to walk on water and a solution is clear – alternatively, for a more realistic answer, install a pool infill system. This is just what Les Bouviers have done.

Realising the potential space that a swimming pool has as a dry, flat area is the inspiration behind the Stage Systems Pool Infill structure. With phenomenal experience in demountable staging, developing the design for a robust framework to support staging platforms and performers, progression was then made to develop a pool infill system, using the same successful framework, altered only to use stainless steel to withstand the water. The framework must be a bespoke design to fit exactly to the individual pool and can accommodate different shapes and designs of pool. The framework has non-marking adjustable feet so it can also adapt to a flat or sloping bottomed pool (max 15° gradient) and to a concrete or concrete and tile construction, transforming a wet environment into a dry setting without even draining the pool. The framework and decks also have the ability to be taken apart and stored, so the pool itself does not become redundant.

The deck, which covers the frame and pool, is manufactured to a high specification and edged with Iroko Brazilian hardwood and suitable for holding large distributed weights. Each deck has a foamex water vapour barrier to the underside and a top surface lacquering; all to ensure the pool environment does not affect the form or performance of the platform. The panels simply fit over the pool and frame, meeting the edge with a stainless steel non-trip surround, compatible with deck level and free board pool designs. The components for the structure, developed by Stage Systems, are the very best for the task required; combining strength in every element with amazing aesthetics and durability, Stage System’s Pool Infill system is the ultimate structure pulling practicality and performance together.

Selecting the Birch stained deck finish from various alternative lacquered and stained wood options, Les Bouviers wanted the new ‘floor’ to naturally complement their existing décor. The decoration in the pool, or rather function room, is highlighted by the backdrop of the room, the view - a beautiful countryside scene which adds a certain
“je ne sais quoi” to the room.

The new facility at Les Bouviers, achieved by utilising what they already have, compliments the existing hotel and restaurant, not to mention completing a succession of weddings. The pool has been home to wedding breakfasts, parties, disco’s and bands, an inconceivable idea before Stage Systems got involved. Stage Systems and Les Bouviers have proved to be a match made in heaven, so join us in wishing them a long and happy life together – cheers!!

They’ll insure you, rescue you, give you a loan, inspect hotels and even teach you to drive, the AA are a British institution!

The recent AA B&B Awards for 2007 took place in May at the Gallery in South Kensington. These coveted awards were updated this year and included new categories to include the Friendliest Landlady, The Funkiest B&B and the Family Friendly B&B for 2007. To match the modernisation of the awards, the setting was also updated with the addition of a new modular stage, giving a stunning platform for the award recipients to be acknowledged.

The ceremony was an amazing success and highlighted individuals’ hard work by honouring the establishments with these awards and their associated recognition.

The AA is famed for acknowledging their own staff’s performance giving them recognition through awards such as AA Patrol of the Year and the AA employee awards. With such a catalogue of events the necessity to find a platform on which to present these honours was ever present. By investing in a stage which has great strength and aesthetics, can easily be assembled, dismantled, reconfigured and stored, the AA chose Q-Build. Rhyme and Rhythm

There once was a contest of fine Irish dancing
Light jigs and slip jigs, hornpipes and prancing.
To host this event needs the perfect venue,
Merrill College has it all and a stage that’s brand new!

It may seem surprising to use Derby as host,
But with space, sound and lighting it has much more than most.
Eighteen years of experience, could this year be best?
With Q-Build from Stage Systems, you’ll be more than impressed.

The Feis Glendarragh Irish Dancing Championships for 2007 was held at Merrill College in Derby on June 2nd and 3rd 2007. Not particularly renowned for Irish Dancing, Derby, and in particular Merrill College is actually the perfect location for the event. The geographical location is centrally placed, so easily accessible for everyone, and the venue itself although new to Irish dancing championships, has recently undergone somewhat of a transformation.

The college has been involved in a project to improve their drama capabilities, which has been enthused by staff and funded by a private company. The recently installed performance facility came in the form of a comprehensive demountable stage together with complete lighting and sound systems. The stage, the original design from Stage Systems is created with Q-Build, a strong, but lightweight structure that can be reconfigured to form single or multiple level platforms.

The simplicity of Q-Build makes it the perfect choice for schools and colleges, it is easy to build, re-build in a variety of formats and compact to store. The platforms, steps, frames and handrails are extremely robust and with the recent Irish Dancing Championships, their strength is fully illustrated.

The Championships, now 18 years old, highlight a variety of Irish dances, performed by a mixture of age groups, accompanied by experienced musicians and judged by some critical eyes, making this a very exciting event for the colleges’ new performance facility to debut.

Service with a Smile

Updating a 19th century Church to meet the needs of the modern day can be a complicated task.

A Grade 2* listed building that has magnificent classic styled pillars externally and some of the country’s most beautiful original boxed pews and an impressive central raised pulpit and oval gallery, the Methodist Church at Market Rasen has a wealth of charm and history that must remain. A busy thriving Church, it is not however just a place of worship, it is also a theatre, practice room, drama studio, community hall and a nursery! In order to adapt the space for a variety of purposes the church decided to look into new and contemporary possibilities.

Investigations were made as to how a structure for orchestral recitals, bands and choirs could be fitted into the building without disrupting any of the current features. It was also established that there was not only a necessity for the structure to be moved within the Church itself, but also to take full advantage of its potential, for it to be taken down and erected at other sites too. Funding and conservation issues also posed some problems, but with determination and working in conjunction with Stage Systems to overcome a variety of constraints, the answer is now in place.

In March 2006 the Multi-Dek staging arrived from Stage Systems. This resourceful structure is used in three layouts - a three tiered system, two tiers or flat. Due to the modular components of Multi Dek, the system can also be easily transported to other venues, so is meeting the original requirements on a variety of levels!

Stage Systems research, design, build and install their Multi Dek staging and work in conjunction with customers to meet their particular needs. The service does not end there, as Stage Systems have an ongoing service with a customer care team and are proud to keep the customer smiling.

No more standing in the wings – STEP OUT!!!

Setting themselves a two week challenge to renovate and convert their existing school, the charity STEPS have called on local companies to assist in whatever way they can. STEPS supports children with cerebal palsy and associated motor dysfunctions. Their centre is based in Shepshed, which successfully provides these children with an important and effective environment to learn and develop new skills, and gives support to their families.

The charity is supported by patron Rosemary Conley and an experienced team of staff who can offer the children the education they need to develop as confident individuals. The children may have different learning needs to most, but they still want to have fun whilst learning and the strategies that the staff have adopted recognise this.

In need of modernisation, the facility at St Botolph’s Old School is in the limelight. The challenge is to upgrade the existing teaching area, build a new entrance and reception area and install new toilets and kitchen. Furthermore an existing run down hall will be renovated and refurbished to provide a multi-purpose room for the children to use, as well as for use as a hired facility to earn an income for the charity.

This two week project will enable the charity to rapidly turn around this development, and provide the centre with the facilities they need. Although putting the pressure on with such a short timescale, the challenge is creating a lot of local interest with news coverage from ITV Central and generous support from local businesses.

With local companies donating time and products to help, the fortnight project started on 21st May. Already involved are local architects, building contractors, engineers and timber frame specialists – which has enabled the extension and building to take shape. Other companies are donating products and services that will transform the indoor facilities, including a full demountable Q-Build stage from Stage Systems for the children themselves to use for performances as well as for extra rental income. The stage is versatile enough to adapt to a variety of uses, is robust, simple to construct and easy to store. The stage will give the hall a new lease of life and give the children a new platform to further develop their individual self-confidence and communication skills.

The generosity of the local people and businesses has been incredible, highlighting the power that pulling together as a community really has.
