The Old School Coffee Shop in Grosmont, North Yorkshire opened in April 2012 and the owners spent time renovating and converting the old school into a home and business.
The owners, Emily and Bill now run the Coffee Shop and also offer a cottage to rent. The cottage called Applegarth is a beautiful property originally built as the Head Teachers residence.
In August Bill approached us looking for a stage to be used for an upcoming event. He had seen and purchased our Q-build portable staging in the past when running a community arts centre in Gloucestershire.
“We knew it was flexible, looked good and was easy to move and store in a confined space. Our business is a coffee shop but we occasionally stage indoor and outdoor events for our customers.”
Bill’s son, Will, a singer/songwriter (aka Gecko), finished his challenging stint at the Edinburgh Fringe, having performed 40 shows in 21 days. On his way back home to London, he stopped off for a few days, performed his show in the old school playground on the new staging to an audience of coffee shop customers.
“The staging was delivered sooner than promised which was helpful.”
The Q-build multi-level staging was an ideal solution as there are a range of kits available, starting at just £550.00* and this was within the budget.
“After a gap of four years since using Q-build and because the system is so logical and straightforward, I could see immediately how to put it up, take it down and (very importantly) store the staging.”
