Client: Our Ladys Junior School

 

The brief:

 

Educating their children in a happy, stimulating and secure environment is the aim of the school based in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. This is achieved through a varied curriculum and catalogue of activities including sports, fundraising events and drama.  The Year 6 children took the lead roles in the school show this year, but the whole school was involved in this exciting end of term production. Needing a solution that would transform the dining hall into a theatrical venue, Our Lady’s turned to Stage Systems for support.

 

The end result:

 

So much time and effort went into making “Greased” a performance to be remembered with costumes, props and backdrop.  To give this performance the literal build up it deserved a new staging system was installed.   The choice was Q-Build staging which meant that the performance could turn the main hall into a theatre for a few days and then be taken part and stored away so that the hall could revert back to being a dining hall or gym!

 

First night nerves were plentiful, but was it the staff or the children who were more anxious? With Sandy and Danny ready, the Pink Ladies and T-Birds waiting in the wings, Our Lady’s Junior School were ready for their own production, Greased!

 

Any stage fright problems could be comforted in the knowledge that the entire performance was supported by the strong modular stage structure of Q-Build from Stage Systems.

The school received some great reviews and soon starts an exciting new chapter in its life as the junior and next door infant schools amalgamate and become Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary school.  This will mean that the cast list for next year will be even longer and there will be lots more stars in the making.
