Q. What is the difference between Keystage, Q-Build and Multi-Dek?

A. The Keystage system is designed to provide a solid reliable, flat stage platform to those on a budget.

Q-Build, whilst having the same inherent strength as Keystage, takes it a step further by supporting tiering, handrails, multi-level staging.....the list goes on.

Multi-Dek is our most heavy duty system, althought still a manageable weight,

Q.I don't have much storage space, how much room will my stage take up when not in use?

A. Each system has its own wheeled storage:

Keystage - up to 24 standard birch units store on 1 trolley measuring approximately 1000mm x 750mm x 1450mm.

Q-Build - up to 24 standard 500mm units on 1 trolley stores in a diameter of 1m.

Q-Plus - up to 24 standard 500mm units on 1 trolley stores in a diameter of 1.2m.

Multi-Dek - components vary but main components store on trolleys measuring 770mm wide x 1500mm long x 1465mm high.

Q-Step - up to 24 panels store on 1 trolley measuring 755mm wide x 1320mm long.

Q. How strong is it?

A. The systems we supply are incredibly strong; each is tested to 7.5KN/msq.  Which in simple language is 765kg, or to put it another way 10 x 12 stone people standing on a single unit.

In the past Q-Build has been used to support a Transit Van, the Ford Focus and a Grand Piano.  All this strength from a system simple enough for primary school children to build.

Q. How light / manageable is it to use?

A. All our stages are made from tubular mild steel making them strong, but light.  For example our Q-Build staging is 6kg for a frame and 7kg for a deck.

Q. What is the delivery time?

A. Most standard orders are delivered within 4 working weeks, special finishes take up to 6 working weeks and full bespoke systems 8-12 working weeks.

Q. Do you have people who can visit / demonstrate on site?

A. Yes. We have several demonstrators with fully equipped demonstration vehicles who can demo our equipment and carry out a site survey.  Please contact us to arrange a site visit.

Q. Can we buy small amounts of equipment?

A. The systems are modular and so can grow as your requirements grow.  Each system can be bought as a kit or component parts depending on your available budget.

Q. How does the staging connect?

A. Both Q-Build and Keystage connect through a system of plastic tie-plates.  These are supplied in four hole and two hole versions and connect the frames together to prevent movement.  Once the decks are in place the tie-plates are covered and ensure the safety of the system.

For tiering systems whereby a continuation style is used, tie-plates connect each and every level ensuring the safety of those on the tiering.

The overlap style of tiering, as its name suggests, overlaps frames so that each level is 'locked in' to the level in front and behind creating a solid structure.

Q. What heights are available?

A. Keystage units are available in 300mm or 500mm heights.

Q-Build units are available at 166mm, 277.5mm, 500mm and 722.5mm heights.

Multi-Dek leg heights start at 336mm and increase in 150mm increments up to a height of 936mm.  Heights of 1086mm and 1236mm are available as specials.

Q. Why are frame heights different to before (277.5mm versus 300mm)?

A. We have recently changed our frame heights to allow more adapability with the system.  For the new RQ101 frame (277.5mm) is designed to stack two deep and match with the RQ102 (500mm) frame thus more options to be offered with the same kit.

* Please note that the RQ101 (277.5mm) has not replaced the original 300mm frame and this is still available.

Q. Are prices available?

A. Yes.  Please contact us for a price guide or advice.  We like to spend time discussing your requirements in order to find you the most versatile solution for your budget.

Q. What colours are available for carpet and drapes?

A. Please email customercare@stagesystems.co.uk for a swatch.

Q. How do fascias and skirting attach?

A. Q-Build and Keystage skirting is supplied with ties sewn into the header tape, these are looped around the frame and tield off before the decks are applied, for more detailed information please contact customercare@stagesystems.co.uk.

Fascia panels have Velcro(tm) fixings which attach to the legs of the frames, as does Multi-Dek skirting.

Q. We have a specific space, can you offer a bespoke solution?

A. We are able to design a huge variety of bespoke solutions based on the most suitable system for the role.  We do try to keep structural changes to a minimum in order to preserve the strength and integrity of the system.  The range of finishes can be specified although we reserve the right to advise on the suitability of the finish.

With new orders, to match carpet as closely as possible, we would always request carpet from the same colour batch number.  Where carpet is already in place, we would only be able to try and match the style and colour of carpet due to the variance in shades.

Q. How are handrails priced and what is each one for?

A. The Q-Build handrails are used to provide a continuous barrier to prevent possible accidents.  At present we offer standard handrails with one horizontal bar and vertical handrails for added security.

Whilst the vertical bar handrails are mostly used on high level tiering, they can also be used on staging should this be necessary.  For advise on handrails, please contact a member of our sales team.

Q. Do you offer a DDA (disability discrimination act) compliant ramp?

A. We don't offer a fully compliant ramp due to the demountable nature of the stage, however we are able to offer a ramp suitable for wheelchair use.

*1:12 Gradient.

*Rest point 'landing' provided when over 5m long.

*100mm high lips to edge or ramp.

For more information on ramps, please speak to one of our sales advisors.

Q. Are there any regulations that demountable stages have to adhere to?

A. The Building Regulations mainly concern permanent structures, our systems are often used as a temporary structure.  A good rule of thumb is to consult your health and safety representative to find out if there is any specific guidelines to which your individual use of the system needs to adhere to.

Q. Do you offer a design service?

A. Yes. Our design service is free, and we can provide drawings for approval and liaise with your architect.
