Brentwood school is a leading Independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3 – 18 years. The school follows the ‘Diamond Model’ for academic teaching, which means that from 11+ boys and girls are taught separately until the Sixth Form, when classes are mixed to prepare young men and women for the world beyond school.
THE END RESULT
The Sixth Form facilities were improved to provide university standard accommodation. Designed by award winning architects Cottrell and Vermulen, this new development features a brand new Sixth Form centre, state-of-the-art classrooms, fully equipped computer suite, common rooms and private study areas and the new ‘Wessex Auditorium’.
Stage Systems were involved in the design, supply and installation of the new stage, and from the outset offered advice and support on the best possible solution for the space. Multi-dek staging was chosen for its beautiful finish and strength, but also for its practicality allowing it to be configured in various single or multi-height layouts and depending on the purpose of the room, its simple storage. Working in conjunction with the architects, Stage Systems designed and installed the stage with inset steps and fascias in the 400 capacity Wessex Auditorium, that now offers a magnificent performance space with the large multi-deck stage with its bespoke elements a focal point, and an inspirational platform on which to perform.
WHAT THEY SAID:
“The Wessex Auditorium was officially opened in November 2011 by His Royal Highness Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex. At the opening ceremony Prince Edward dramatically unveiled the commemorative plaque and commented, ‘I hope that this new space will be used for all sorts of dramatic purposes and I’m going to try to be the first one!’”
