We were contacted by a large interior fit out company who were involved in a project consisting of a luxury set of apartments in London. The apartments have their own excellent facilities such as a gym, swimming pool, relaxation area, viewing platform outdoor area and a cinema/movie theatre.
Working with a challenging location, central London, we visited site to meet the Client and carry out a survey of the space. We had several obstacles to overcome, the cinema room, now called ‘The Picture House’, had a stage area towards the front of the space, and at the rear, a projector room, rising incrementally using the Q-plus system from front to back. A series of service ducts were to pass through the room at specific points and had to be allowed for in parts of the build.
Stage Systems provided a strong and secure seating platform and stage area beneath the main screen for the cinema room, which was then sealed and made air-tight, complete with a certifcate of testing, to comply with fire regulations. The system was then covered with carpet which gave the room it’s ‘cinema’ feel and would contribute to excellent acoustics once the sound systems were installed. Specially designed high specification upholstered theatre chairs were fixed to the platform during the completion of the fit-out.
The Q-plus tiering system is ideal for home or commercial cinema/theatre projects, providing a strong under-structure consisting of a metal frame and timber deck, tested to 7.5kN/m2 and easily tiered as frames simply slot together. A modular design, Q-plus allows for easy maintenance when required and can be cut to fit around any obstacles such as corners, steps, ducting and pipework.
A complete design and installation service can be provided, we are also able to adhere a custom carpet specification to the system, and can provide seating on request.
