History & Brief
The Bach Choir was founded in 1876 and is one of the worlds leading choruses. The choir is Directed by David Hill, MBE who is one of the Country’s most prestigious conductors. Performances are held in London and the UK in locations such as The Royal Albert Hall and Abbey Road Studios.
They have been described by the London Evening Standard as ‘probably the finest Independent choir in the world’.
Rehearsals take place each Monday at Westminster Cathedral Hall which was designed by Cathedral Architect John Francis Bentley. The hall holds the beautiful Edwardian features of its original design.
Stage Systems were approached by Tim Lewers with a request to provide a conductor’s rostrum/podium for use at the Westminster Cathedral Hall in London. The choir had regularly sung on our staging all over the UK, most notably Winchester Cathedral and were familiar with the suitability of our product.
The conductor had been using a make-shift solution for the rostrum for many years, they were looking for a solution that would comply with all health and safety regulations and provide the strength and stability required for the Conductors use.
The Q-plus portable staging system was a perfect fit for a bespoke rostrum having the flexibility to be built and dismantled before and after each rehearsal and requiring no tools to fix together. The decks and steps were carpeted to dampen any sounds of footsteps on the system.
What They Said
Feedback from Tim Lewers, a member since 1985, was excellent:
“The delivery went perfectly. Please thank the driver. We used it last night and the conductor was hugely impressed.”
